Kasetsart University Council At the 12th/2020 meeting on December 28, 2020 The resolution approved the principle of reviewing the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine or the College of Medicine, Kasetsart University, as proposed by the representative of the Kasetsart University Executive Board (KBA), with the President of Kasetsart University, Dr. Chongrak Wacharinrat, assigning Associate Professor Dr. Somwang Khantanuwong, Vice President for Advanced Graduate Development, to proceed. This is part of the move towards serving society and the country, with the goal of expanding the capacity by providing education, research, and academic services in public health and medicine to develop the quality of life of Thais sustainably on the basis of academic strength and knowledge accumulated for over 80 years.

Faculty of Medicine is a faculty of Kasetsart University responsible for teaching, research, and training medical doctors, as well as providing medical services to the public within the context of Agro-Medicine and Bio-Innovation. The history of the faculty’s establishment is as follows:
Kasetsart University has appointed Committee for the Establishment of the Faculty of Medicine and develop and improve the curriculum of the Bachelor of Medicine program by
Associate Professor Dr. Somwang Khantanuwong, Vice President for Advanced Graduate Development, is the Chairman of the Committee. This committee is responsible for operations in both academic and administrative dimensions, including curriculum development and other related missions as assigned by the President. This appointment is in accordance with Announcement of Kasetsart University Dated February 17, 2021
Later, there was an additional announcement dated June 24, 2021 appoint Subcommittee for the Development of the Doctor of Medicine Curriculum With General Dr. Chumpol Piemsomboon as the chairman of the subcommittee, the subcommittee is comprised of qualified persons from Phramongkutklao College of Medicine and Kasetsart University To jointly develop the curriculum to be of the highest quality.

In this regard, the Kasetsart University Council, at its 10/2565 meeting on October 31, 2565, resolved to establish the “Faculty of Medicine” on November 1, 2565, to conduct teaching and research for the production of doctors and provide medical services to the public in the context of agro-medicine and bio-innovation. Therefore, November 1, 2565 is considered the founding day of the Faculty of Medicine, Kasetsart University, according to the Kasetsart University Announcement on the Establishment of Departments of Kasetsart University (No. 3) B.E. 2565, which was announced in the Government Gazette Volume 139, Part 305, Special, on December 28, 2565.
Hospitals and institutes jointly produce doctors
Faculty of Medicine, Kasetsart University, collaborates with the Ministry of Public Health to produce more doctors in Thailand and the project to produce doctors for rural people. At the same time, it has prepared to produce doctors in collaboration with 2 Clinical Medical Education Centers as joint institutes to produce doctors. In addition, it has collaborated with Phramongkutklao College of Medicine (PMC), Department of Army Medical Services, to be an institute to produce mentor doctors. It plans to accept the first batch of students in the academic year 2024 and lay the foundation stone on February 2, 2023, which is the 80th anniversary of Kasetsart University.
